Human Movement Final

For the final Human Movement video I decided to create a tutorial on painting finger nails. I added a beat to the video to add some interest. I also sped up the videos to make the process a lot quicker. I also added a musical beat to the beginning title and to the credits at the end to help switch things up a little bit.

Holiday Sweep

For the extra credit assignment we were given the option to use our own videos from last weeks assignment to create a new video or we could create a movie poster in Illustrator. I decided to use my videos from last week to create a new video. Even though one of my classmates created a video using the same clips, I was sure that there was enough content that I could also make a video that would be fairly different. I used videos of me cleaning the house and decorating for Christmas. I sped up all of the videos to give it a fast pace to go with the music that I selected. Since the videos consist of cleaning and decorating I decided to title it “Holiday Sweep”.

Returned Postcard

For the Postcard assignment we were to send out our postcards to be altered then they were to be returned to us after being changed or altered in some way. This is the postcard that I sent to my sister that she allowed my nephew to edit. I like how he turned one of the faces into my sister, I can tell because of the birthmark on her face. I also like how he put Jesus is # 1 on the back of the postcard.

Human Movement Proposal

For the Human Movement video project I’m going to record a creative process that is performed by the hands to the hands. I think I will speed up some clips to show a lengthy process in a short amount of time. In between processes I will incorporate clips of hand gestures that we know and recognize as language to communicate without speaking. I plan to have background music playing during the creative process and I will also add sound effects to highlight or enhance the hand gestures.

In Class Video

The idea behind the In Class Video assignment was to create a one-minute video comprised of video clips randomly selected from another classmate that he or she previously recorded. From the selection of photos that I was given, I picked about five videos that I thought I could make interesting together. While my subject matter was rather random, I decided to incorporate multiple clips from the same scene to add some familiarity throughout the video. I also sped up a few of the videos to add a subtle change of pace.

Abstracted Color Relations: Paintings by Ariana Parry

“Mere color, unspoiled by meaning, and unallied with definite form, can speak to the soul in a thousand different ways.” –Oscar Wilde

Color intuitive by nature, Ariana Parry takes viewers on an exploration through color relationships with a deeper insight of how two or more colors interact. Challenging herself, Parry has pushed out of her comfort zone to broaden her skills and understanding of color.  Parry’s color palettes are not only complementary but also contrasting, providing diverse color combinations while maintaining balance and harmony. Abstract in form, Parry’s paintings put all emphasis on color and the abstract form becomes a secondary element. Factors such as gender, age and culture can influence  how an individual can perceive color. Color conveys moods that attach to human feelings  making reactions to color combinations  personal to the observer, Parry’s paintings establish an exclusive color-viewer relationship.

5×5 Video Project

The assignment for the 5×5 video project was to record some sort of creative process. For my video I wanted to capture the process of making a woodblock print. The printmaking process is very long and has many steps and I thought it would be fun to capture all of the interesting parts in a short video while leaving out all of the cleanup. This video makes printmaking look simple and easy, however, anyone who is a print-maker or has practiced the printing process in any way knows that this is not true. I also played music in the background to add some excitement and make the video a little more interesting.

In the second video I used the same video clips but added a few effects like speeding the video up or slowing it down. I also reversed all of the clips to make the video more interesting. I think the wood chips becoming part of the wood block again and the ink going back into the tube are a great feature.

Animated Gif

For the Animated Gif project I wanted to create something simple and at the same time convey an interesting message. My gif shows a woman with a mask as her face and the woman holding her face in her hand as if it’s a mask. I modified the image in sequences so that the woman would put her real face on to cover up the mask. When she places the face on, she slightly smiles. I wanted to portray the message of putting a smile on even when you don’t want to. It may look like a woman smiling but really it’s a mask to cover up all of her pain and sadness.
